Movements in danceculture

How can the energy of dance styles from around the world
be captured in static visuals without
losing
their essence?

Story
For this project I created an informative data visualization, shaped by my own passion for dance and its cultural differences.
I created a series of six posters, each showing a dance movement from a different continent: Bhangra
from India, Cossack from Ukraine, Zaouli from Ivory Coast, Haka from New Zealand, HipHop from the
USA, and Capoeira from Brazil.
The visuals are shaped by tracing the movements of hands and
feet from dance videos. Colors connect to the cultural roots of each style, while short texts share
their background stories.
Together, they turn movement into static form, capturing the rhythm, energy, and expression of dance, allowing you to feel dance on another level and see how movement connects across cultures. Because in the end, dance is a universal language.

"Each movement is more than motion, it carries memories and culture into form."
